Process Color: A Lasting Legacy

Process Color is more than just a print production company—it’s a living, breathing extension of my passion for excellence, creativity, & impact. Every project we take on is an opportunity to push the limits of what’s possible, crafting not just signs and flags but experiences that leave lasting impressions. From wayfinding solutions to luxury brand displays, every detail matters because we know that the work we do shapes communities, tells stories, and Elevates Brands. But beyond the materials and machines, it’s the people, the talented, driven, and dedicated team behind every print, flag, sign, wrap, and installation who make Process Color what it is. Together, we don’t just manufacture; we innovate, collaborate, and lead.

The flag division of Process Color continues to be one of my favourite divisions of our business and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the late Arlene Flock (1947–2014) she was a visionary entrepreneur who transformed Flagworks from a single flag shop into a multifaceted enterprise. Born in Edmonton, she began her career in her family’s manufacturing company before moving to Calgary, where she acquired Flagworks. Under her leadership, the company experienced significant growth, and she considered her co-workers among her closest friends.
Beyond her business endeavors, Arlene was deeply committed to supporting small businesses. She served on Revenue Canada’s small business advisory committee, contributing to initiatives like the Guide for Canadian Small Businesses, which assists new entrepreneurs in navigating the complexities of starting and running a business.

Arlene met our CEO Charles Daly in 2009, where he represented American Express on the board for the Alberta Ballet. It didn’t take very long and she wholeheartedly took him under her wing. As outsiders in the status world, they became fast friends and essentially family.  Together they co created the Business Diversity Group to ensure the voice of non-energy related Alberta businesses were heard. They worked closely with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce who eventually overtook this division. The passing of Arlene in 2014, brought great sadness to the community, her friends, colleagues, family and employees. Thousands of people from all walks of life showed up because she treated everyone the same.

Charles purchased Flag works in 2018 to keep Arlene's legacy alive and growing with the vision of creating a group of companies that puts their employees first. Process Color is a people first company and that goes for our employees, customers, and the communities we serves.  Arlene continues to inspire Charles even now as that is what inspired him to have a female President and now VP of Sales.

I love this company because it’s a reflection of everything I believe in: bold ideas, relentless execution, and an unwavering commitment to being our best everyday. Thank you Arlene for taking Charles under your wing as I am under his now.
